Conyers Threatens White House with Subpoenas
(wgvu) - WASHINGTON (AP) - House Judiciary Committee Chairman John
Conyers says presidential aides who fail to answer congressional
subpoenas could face possible contempt citations.
At issue is the testimony from key confidants in connection with
a probe of U.S. attorney firings.
The Michigan Democrat raises the specter of a House floor vote
by Thanksgiving on citations against chief of staff Joshua Bolten
and former legal counsel Harriet Miers.
Conyers sent a letter to White House counsel Fred Fielding
stating it was the last time he'd write the administration seeking
a cooperative resolution.
