(wgvu) - A WESTERN MICHIGAN JURY HAS CONVICTED FOUR
MEN OF KIDNAPPING, RAPING AND MURDERING A HOPE COLLEGE STUDENT IN
1979.
JURORS IN OTTAWA COUNTY DELIBERATED A DAY AND A HALF BEFORE
ISSUING THEIR VERDICT IN THE DEATH OF JANET CHANDLER.
AUTHORITIES SAY THE 22-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WAS ABDUCTED FROM HER JOB
AS A DESK CLERK AT A HOLLAND MOTEL.
THEY SAY THE MEN TOOK HER TO A NEARBY HOME, WHERE SHE WAS
GANG-RAPED AND STRANGLED.
THE JURY CONVICTED ALL FOUR DEFENDANTS -- ARTHUR PAIVA, JAMES
NELSON, FREDDIE PARKER AND ANTHONY WILLIAMS.
SENTENCING IS DECEMBER 12TH.
