ACTIVIST FROM MICHIGAN IS WORKING TO SAVE CALIFORNIA'S THREATENED
REDWOODS.
DAVID MILLRACE FIRST VISITED NORTHERN CALIFORNIA IN 1968 AND
SAYS HE WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THE DEVASTATION OF THE COASTAL REDWOODS.
HE'S CO-FOUNDER OF THE CHAMPION TREE PROJECT, BASED IN COPEMISH,
MICHIGAN.
MILARCH ASSEMBLED A TEAM THAT CLIMBED MORE THAN 100 FEET UP
REDWOODS IN MARIN (MUH-RIN') COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TO CLIP BOUGHS FOR
CLONING.
THE SITE IS ABOUT 25 MILES NORTH OF SAN FRANCISCO.
