(wgvu) - AN ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP AND LOCAL LEADERS
IN GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN, ARE CALLING FOR THEIR STATE'S LAWMAKERS TO
VOTE TO PROTECT THE GREAT LAKES.
THEY'RE URGING THE WISCONSIN LEGISLATURE TO RATIFY THE GREAT
LAKES COMPACT.
THE COMPACT WOULD BAN MOST NEW AND INCREASED WATER DIVERSIONS
UNLESS APPROVED BY GOVERNORS OF THE EIGHT GREAT LAKES STATES AND
THE CANADIAN PROVINCES OF ONTARIO AND QUEBEC.
GREEN BAY MAYOR JIM SCHMITT JOINED THE WISCONSIN LEAGUE OF
CONSERVATION VOTERS AT ONE OF THREE NEWS CONFERENCES YESTERDAY.
