STATE BUDGET
(2007-10-31)
(wgvu) - - A FINAL PIECE OF MICHIGAN'S STATE BUDGET
PUZZLE HAS FALLEN INTO PLACE.
GOVERNOR GRANHOLM AND THE LEGISLATURE HAVE AGREED TO TURN OVER
MORE FOSTER CARE, JUVENILE JUSTICE AND ADOPTION SERVICES TO PRIVATE
PROVIDERS.
STATE WORKERS AT A JUVENILE JUSTICE HOME THAT WILL PARTIALLY
CLOSE WON'T LOSE THEIR GOVERNMENT JOBS, HOWEVER, AND INSTEAD WILL
MOVE TO OTHER JOBS WITH THE STATE.
LAWMAKERS HAVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO COMPLETE THE BUDGET.
MANY BILLS FUNDING K-12 SCHOOLS AND VARIOUS STATE DEPARTMENTS
ALREADY ARE ON THEIR WAY TO GRANHOLM.
THE LEGISLATURE IS EXPECTED TO MEET LATE TONIGHT TO
WRAP THINGS UP.
