State Budget
(wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - While most of state government's budget is
ready to be passed, Democrats and Republicans are sniping over when
to get started.
House Democrats say they're ready to start moving budget bills
But Senate Republicans say votes won't occur until next week.
That's because they want final agreement on sticking points before
they pass other parts of the budget.
Lawmakers and Governor Jennifer Granholm are negotiating $433
million in cuts below this year's spending or below increases the
governor has proposed.
The deadline for a budget deal is Wednesday. That's when a
monthlong temporary budget extension runs out.
