House Passes Helmet-less Law
(wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The state House again has passed a bill
that would allow some motorcycle riders to go without a helmet.
Legislation with a similar theme passed the Legislature last
year but it was vetoed by Governor Jennifer Granholm. It probably
would be vetoed again if it gets to her desk.
The bill now goes to the Senate.
This year's version passed the House by a 69-to-39 vote.
It is a bit different from last year's version. People would
have to pay permits fees to get out of wearing a helmet and they
would need a certain level of insurance coverage.
