WWII Remains Identified
(2007-10-11)
(wgvu) - WASHINGTON (AP) - The remains of a northern Michigan soldier
missing since World War II have been identified, along the with
those of eight other service members.
The Defense Department says the remains of Staff Sergeant Walter
Schlosser of Lake City were among those found south of Westergein,
Germany.
Schlosser was one of nine airmen on board a B-24-J Liberator
that departed North Pickenham, England, on a mission to bomb a
German aircraft factory.
Scientists used DNA, dental records, forensic and circumstantial
evidence to identify the remains.
Schlosser will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, but no
date has been set.
