Senator Says Lawmakers Pay Should Freeze USA (wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A state senator says lawmakers, the
governor, their staffs and department heads should give up their
pay until a budget deal is reached.
Senator Alan Sanborn says the financial pain would give Governor
Jennifer Granholm and lawmakers in both parties an incentive to
reach a deal and avoid a government shutdown that could come
October 1st.
The Richmond Republican says a budget deal must be struck to
make sure police, teachers, protective services workers and
pensioners get their paychecks on time.
