PRIMARY SCRAMBLE
(2007-09-12)
(wgvu) - CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS FROM MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA
ARE QUESTIONING NATIONAL PARTY'S HANDING OF THE PRESIDENTIAL
PRIMARY SCHEDULE DISPUTE.
THEY'VE ASKED DEMOCRATIC CHAIRMAN HOWARD DEAN WHY HE HASN'T
THREATENED TO PUNISH NEW HAMPSHIRE FOR MOVING UP ITS PRIMARY WHILE
THEIR STATES FACE LOSS OF THEIR DELEGATES.
THE LETTER SAYS FLORIDA GOT THREATS MONTHS BEFORE STATE
DEMOCRATS SAID THEY'D SELECT PRESIDENTIAL DELEGATES DURING THE
JANUARY 29 PRIMARY.
FLORIDA'S REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR AND LEGISLATURE SET THE DATE.
THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS SAID MICHIGAN WILL LOSE ITS
DELEGATES IF STATE DEMOCRATS USE THE NEW JANUARY 15 PRIMARY TO PICK
DELEGATES.
