VOTER ID
(2007-09-06)
(wgvu) - - STATE ELECTIONS OFFICIALS ARE REMINDING
MICHIGAN VOTERS THAT THEY'LL HAVE TO SHOW PHOTO IDENTIFICATION OR
SIGN A STATEMENT SAYING THEY DON'T HAVE A PHOTO I-D BEFORE THEY CAN
GET A BALLOT IN NOVEMBER.
IT'S THE FIRST TIME PHOTO I-D WILL BE REQUIRED.
ELECTION WORKERS AT POLLING PLACES WILL ASK VOTERS TO SHOW A
PHOTO I-D.
MOST VOTERS LIKELY WILL SATISFY THE REQUIREMENT BY SHOWING A
MICHIGAN DRIVER'S LICENSE OR MICHIGAN PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION CARD.
BUT THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO COMPLY.
AS LONG AS THE DOCUMENTS ARE CURRENT, VOTERS CAN SHOW A DRIVER'S
LICENSE OR ID CARD ISSUED BY ANOTHER STATE. SEVERAL OTHER TYPES OF
IDENTIFICATION ALSO WILL BE ALLOWED.
