Chicago is site of Green Party's 2008 national convention
(2007-09-04)
(wgvu) - CHICAGO (AP) - When the Green Party nominates its presidential
slate next year, it will be at a convention in Chicago.
Illinois is a state where the party has become established, just
like the Democrats and Republicans.
Chicago was picked as the site of the party's national
nominating convention over Detroit, Minneapolis and Oakland,
California.
The convention will be held July 10th through the -13th.
The Greens got a major boost in Illinois last year when
gubernatorial candidate Rich Whitney got 10 percent of the vote,
twice what was needed to establish the party.
