Simultaneous ceremonies mark release of Gerald Ford postage stamp
(2007-08-31)
(wgvu) - GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A postage stamp issued today
commemorates President Ford's life in public service.
The 41-cent first-class stamp features a lifelike painting of
Ford.
Son Michael Ford and brother Richard Ford attended a
first-day-of-issue ceremony held at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential
Museum in Grand Rapids.
The former president grew up in the city.
Another ceremony was held at the same time near Rancho Mirage,
California.
That's where Gerald Ford lived in recent years until his death
last December 26th at age 93.
His wife Betty Ford, son Jack Ford and daughter Susan Ford Bales
attended the ceremony in southern California.
