FDA Considers Outsourcing Jobs
(2007-08-27)
(wgvu) - WASHINGTON (AP) - Two House Democrats from Michigan are
investigating the Food and Drug Administration's plan to consider
outsourcing more than 300 jobs.
Congressmen John Dingell and Bart Stupak sent a letter Friday to
the FDA. They requested documents connected with the agency's plan
to consider contracting 322 jobs to private companies.
The congressmen say the FDA should wait for the recommendations
of an Import Safety Working Group formed last month by the White
House.
That group is tasked with improving the safety of U.S. imports
after tainted products entered the U.S. from China.
FDA spokesman Christopher Kelly says the agency is reviewing the
lawmakers' letter and looks forward to providing them with a
response.
