(wgvu) - - FIREFIGHTERS ARE LOOKING FOR
HELP FROM THE SKY IN FIGHTING THE 28.5-SQUARE-MILE SLEEPER LAKE
FIRE IN THE EASTERN UPPER PENINSULA.
RAIN IS POSSIBLE EACH DAY THROUGH FRIDAY, AND AN AERIAL TANKER
FROM MINNESOTA HAS BEEN DUMPING WATER ON THE BLAZE AS WELL.
THE FIRE IS IN LUCE COUNTY NEAR PINE STUMP JUNCTION, ABOUT 300
MILES NORTH OF DETROIT.
TODAY, CREWS WERE MOPPING UP PORTIONS OF THE FIRE, WHICH PICKED
UP YESTERDAY AS WINDS GUSTED UP TO 25 MILES PER HOUR.
THE FIRE IS ABOUT 67 PERCENT CONTAINED, AND 223 PEOPLE ARE
WORKING TO BRING IT UNDER CONTROL.
AUTHORITIES SAY LIGHTNING STRIKES AUG. 2 APPARENTLY IGNITED THE
FIRE.
