Energy Drink Crackdown
(wgvu) - UNDATED (AP) - Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox and colleagues
in 27 other states are asking federal regulators to crack down on
the makers of energy drinks containing alcohol and caffeine.
The attorneys general accuse the drink-makers of producing
misleading advertising for a product that can pose serious health
and safety risks.
The 28 state officials and their counterparts in Guam and D.C.
say that aggressive marketing of alcoholic energy drinks targets
young people who now buy energy drinks without alcohol.
A Miller Brewing spokesman says its Sparks energy drink was
created only for customers who are of legal drinking age.
