SAK-INTOXICATED
(2007-08-20)
(wgvu) - STATE REPRESENTATIVE MICHAEL SAK OF GRAND RAPIDS
WILL TAKE A TEMPORARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE
FROM HIS POSITION ON THE HOUSE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE.
SAK'S DECISION COMES AFTER A MICHIGAN STATE POLICE MEMO HAD
INDICATED THAT HE APPEARED TO BE INTOXICATED WHILE DEMANDING A RIDE
FROM A TROOPER. THE MEMO INDICATED THE INCIDENT HAD HAPPENED DURING
LAST MONTH'S NATIONAL GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION MEETING.
IN A STATEMENT RELEASED SUNDAY, SAK SAYS THE STATE FACES MANY
CHALLENGES AND HE DOES NOT WANT THE INCIDENT TO BECOME A
DISTRACTION DURING BUDGET NEGOTIATIONS. SAK ALSO SAYS HE WILL
ADDRESS PERSONAL ISSUES CONCERNING DRINKING.
