Cemetary Investigation
(wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - An associate of an oil speculator has
turned himself to face charges that he aided and abetted the
embezzlement of up to 70 million dollars from cemetery trust funds
in Michigan.
Attorney General Mike Cox today announced the arrest of
67-year-old Carter Green of Henderson, Nevada.
Cemetery trust funds are used to pay for customers' future
funerals and for future care of burial plots and other upkeep.
Cox is calling on the Legislature to strengthen the oversight
and regulation of cemetery operations and sales.
