(wgvu) - THE REV. AL SHARPTON PARTICIPATED IN A SERIES OF
PROTESTS AROUND THE COUNTRY TUESDAY OVER THE USE OF MUSIC LYRICS THAT
ARE DEGRADING TO WOMEN.
HE CAME TO DETROIT'S MOTOWN MUSEUM FOR ONE OF 19 PROTESTS IN
WHAT ORGANIZERS CALLED A DAY OF OUTRAGE.
OTHER PROTESTS WERE HELD IN NEW YORK; LOS ANGELES; CHICAGO;
HOUSTON; RICHMOND, VA.; AND JACKSONVILLE, FLA.
SHARPTON ANNOUNCED AN INITIATIVE IN APRIL TO COMBAT THE USE OF
GUTTER TERMS IN RAP MUSIC.
TODAY, SHARPTON CALLED FOR THE WITHDRAWAL OF PUBLIC FUNDS FROM
ENTERTAINMENT COMPANIES THAT "WON'T CLEAN UP THEIR ACT."
