(wgvu) - TWO GRAND RAPIDS CITY COMMISSION WARDS HAD SINGLE SEATS UP TUESDAY----ONE OF THEM HAS BEEN FILLED, THE OTHER WILL BE DECIDED IN NOVEMBER. FIRST WARD CANDIDATE WALT GUTOWSKI CAPTURED 52% OF THE VOTE, GIVING HIM THE WIN OUTRIGHT. IN THE SECOND WARD, THE TOP TWO DAVID LaGRAND AND RUTH KELLY---WILL SETTLE THEIR SCORE IN THREE MONTHS.

THE GRANDVILLE CITY COUNCIL'S CROWDED RACE STAYS PACKED FOR THE NOVEMBER RUNOFF. WITH NO ONE CANDIDATE PULLING MORE THAN HALF OF THE VOTE, SIX WILL ADVANCE. DOUG COX WAS ELIMINATED. TWO OF THE SIX ARE INCUMBENTS.

IN WALKER, THE NEW CITY CLERK IS SARAH BYDALEK AND VOTERS RETURN COMMISSIONER DAN KENT FOR ANOTHER FOUR YEARS.

IN OTTAWA COUNTY, LONG TIME HOLLAND MAYOR AL McGEEHAN GETS SOME COMPETITION. McGEEHAN FELL JUST SHORT OF PULLING MORE THAN FIFTY PER CENT OF THE VOTE----HE AND CHALLENGER MYRON TRETHEWAY WILL CLASH IN NOVEMBER.

AND IN MUSKEGON COUNTY, FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP VOTERS SAY YES TO A PAIR OF POLICE AND FIRE MILLAGE QUESTIONS.
