WARRANTY GAME, OFFERING LIFETIME REPAIRS FOR THE KEY COMPONENTS OF
ITS CARS AND TRUCKS.
CHRYSLER'S LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY PROGRAM REPLACES A
THREE-YEAR, 36-THOUSAND-MILE WARRANTY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOW.
CHRYSLER SAYS THAT THE WARRANTY APPLIES TO MOST OF ITS VEHICLES
AND COVERS ALL PARTS AND LABOR NEEDED TO REPAIR THE ENGINE,
TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE SYSTEM.
THE STRUGGLING U-S AUTOMAKER IS BEING SPUN OFF BY GERMANY'S
DAIMLERCHRYSLER.
IN SEPTEMBER, GENERAL MOTORS BEGAN OFFERING A FIVE-YEAR,
100-THOUSAND-MILE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY.
SOUTH KOREA'S HYUNDAI ALREADY OFFERED TEN-YEAR,
100-THOUSAND-MILE POWERTRAIN GUARANTEES.
