Eagle Feather Sold Illegally
(wgvu) -
COLUMBUS, Wis. (AP) - A Michigan man has pleaded guilty to
violating the federal Eagle Protection Act by selling an antique
lance with 30 eagle feathers.
Thomas Hampton of Tekonsha (Michigan) sold the lance in 2002 to
a man in Columbus, Wisconsin, for 25-thousand dollars.
The Eagle Protection Act makes it a crime to sell an eagle
feather even if it's part of an artifact.
Hampton runs a business called Hampton Historicals.
No one answered a phone call to the business.
Hampton faces up to five years in prison and a
20-thousand-dollar fine at his sentencing October 18th.
