COURT SALARIES
(2007-07-12)
(wgvu) - THE MICHIGAN SUPREME COURT AND STATE
APPEALS COURT HAVE POSTED THE SALARIES OF JUDICIAL EMPLOYEES ON THE
INTERNET.
BUT SUPREME COURT JUSTICES DISAGREE ON WHETHER THE EMPLOYEES'
NAMES SHOULD BE INCLUDED WITH THE INFORMATION.
THE DECISION ANNOUNCED TODAY COMES AFTER THE LANSING STATE
JOURNAL LAST MONTH CREATED AN INTERNET DATABASE WITH THE NAME,
DEPARTMENT AND SALARY OF MOST STATE EMPLOYEES. THE PAPER MADE A
REQUEST FOR SIMILAR INFORMATION FOR OTHER STATE WORKERS, INCLUDING
THOSE IN THE JUDICIAL BRANCH.
SO THE COURTS, LIKE THE STATE SENATE EARLIER THIS WEEK, RELEASED
THE INFORMATION ON THEIR OWN WEB SITE.
THREE JUSTICES SAY THE COURTS' CHART IS INCOMPLETE BECAUSE IT
DOES NOT GIVE INDIVIDUAL NAMES AND HIRE DATES OF EMPLOYEES.
