ZOO DIRECTOR-RESUME
(2007-07-03)
(wgvu) - THE LONG-TIME DIRECTOR OF THE DETROIT ZOO WILL
KEEP HIS JOB BUT WILL LOSE ONE MONTH'S PAY FOR FALSELY CLAIMING TO
HAVE A P-H-D.
RON KAGAN HAS ACKNOWLEDGED HE DIDN'T RECEIVE A DOCTORATE IN
ZOOLOGY AS STATED ON HIS RESUME.
THE ZOO'S BOARD MADE THE DECISION TODAY.
THE BOARD ALSO VOTED TO PUT A REPRIMAND IN KAGAN'S PERSONNEL
FILE AND TO ASK HIM TO MAKE A PUBLIC APOLOGY.
KAGAN SAYS HE COMPLETED HIS COURSE WORK BUT NEVER RECEIVED THE
DEGREE FROM HEBREW UNIVERSITY IN JERUSALEM.
HE SAYS HE TRIED TWICE TO RESOLVE THE MATTER BUT GAVE UP.
THE ZOO DIRECTOR'S JOB PAYS 200-THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR AND
DOESN'T REQUIRE A DOCTORATE.
