Scandalous Zoo Director
(2007-07-02)
(wgvu) - The longtime director of the Detroit Zoo will
learn soon whether he gets to keep his job.
Ron Kagan has acknowledged he didn't receive a doctorate in
zoology as stated on his resume.
A spokeswoman says the zoo's executive committee will present
its recommendations to the full board for a vote. The board could
decide to suspend Kagan or force him to take a pay cut.
The board recently received an anonymous fax stating that Kagan
had misrepresented his qualifications.
Kagan says he completed his course work but never received the
degree from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He says he tried twice
to resolve the matter but gave up.
The zoo director's job pays 175-thousand dollars a year and
doesn't require a doctorate.
