(wgvu) - VOTE RESULTS ARE COMING IN FROM UNITED AUTO
WORKERS UNION (UAW) LOCALS REPRESENTING WORKERS AT THE STRUGGLING
AUTO-PARTS MAKER DELPHI.
THE UNION MEMBERS ARE DECIDING WHETHER TO RATIFY A CONCESSIONS
CONTRACT DESIGNED TO HELP THE FORMER GENERAL MOTORS UNIT EMERGE
FROM CHAPTER ELEVEN BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION.
THE PACT WOULD SHARPLY CUT WAGES FOR MANY WORKERS.
BALLOTING CONCLUDES THIS MORNING.
SO FAR, WORKERS AT DELPHI PLANTS IN FLINT; SAGINAW; DAYTON,
OHIO; AND ROCHESTER, NEW YORK HAVE VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE CONTRACT,
WHILE WORKERS IN LOCKPORT, NEW YORK, HAVE VOTED NO.
THE PROPOSAL WAS LEADING AMONG U-A-W MEMBERS IN ADRIAN AND IN
SANDUSKY, OHIO.
