(wgvu) - - BILL BARNES SAYS HE WAS SCRATCHING
OFF A LOSING TWO-DOLLAR LOTTERY TICKET INSIDE A WESTERN MICHIGAN
GAS STATION FRIDAY WHEN HE FELT A HAND SLIP INTO HIS PANTS POCKET.
THE 72-YEAR-OLD HAD 300-DOLLARS IN CASH IN THE POCKET.
HE GRABBED THE SUSPECT'S WRIST WITH HIS LEFT HAND AND STARTED
THROWING PUNCHES WITH HIS RIGHT, LANDING SIX OR SEVEN BLOWS BEFORE
A MANAGER AT THE COMSTOCK PARK STORE INTERVENED.
YESTERDAY, 27-YEAR-OLD JESSE RAE OF NEWAYGO COUNTY WAS ARRAIGNED
ON AN UNARMED ROBBERY CHARGE.
BARNES SERVED IN THE MARINES, WAS AN ACCOMPLISHED GOLDEN GLOVES
BOXER AND SPENT 20 YEARS AS AN IRON WORKER.
