(wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - Police say an 18-month-old boy was killed and two
others wounded yesterday after their home came under fire by drug
Authorities say they were shooting at a 20-year-old man who
ripped them off and ran away.
Dier Smith ran through a north Detroit neighborhood and into the
downstairs flat of the home to escape his assailants. Police say
the drug dealers showered the home with bullets from A-K 47 rifles
and a 45-caliber weapon as Smith ran through the home and out the
back door unharmed.
The boy died at the scene. Two other victims -- including his
mother -- are expected to survive. Police did not identify the
Detroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings said investigators are
looking for Smith and urged people to call them with information.
