TOWNSHIP FUNDS MISUSED
(2007-06-25)
(wgvu) - CENTREVILLE, Mich. (AP) - A former township supervisor in St.
Joseph County has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for misusing
public funds.
Former Fabius Township Supervisor Vernon "Butch" Lanphear was
also ordered to serve three months probation, spend nearly
seven-thousand dollars in restitution and other costs and perform
community service.
Lanphear was convicted in January of false pretenses of using
between one-thousand and 20-thousand dollars for submitting false
expense accounts and other data to the township clerk. He denied
the accusations.
Lanphear was recalled from office last August
