(wgvu) - Former Republican Congressman Guy Vander Jagt
(VAN'-dur-jakt) has died. He was 75.
A longtime aide says Vander Jagt died today at a hospice in
Washington. He suffered from pancreatic cancer for about one and
a-half years.
Vander Jagt began his political career in 1964 as a state
senator, serving in the U-S House from 1966 to 1993. He was
chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee for 18
years during his tenure.
Vander Jagt gained national prominence when Ronald Reagan tapped
