AWARENESS ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT HAS DONE LITTLE TO EASE THE PLIGHT
OF THE GREAT LAKES.
DALTON MCGUINTY SAYS AN ABSENCE OF CANADIAN FEDERAL LEADERSHIP
THREATENS TO LEAVE ONE OF CANADA'S MOST TREASURED RESOURCES
IRREPARABLY DAMAGED.
A RECENT REPORT BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AND THE U-S ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION AGENCY PAINTS A MIXED PICTURE OF THE LAKES.
IT ACKNOWLEDGES SOME SUCCESS IN CLEANING UP OVER THE LAST 30
YEARS BUT ALSO REVEALS NEW PROBLEMS -- SOME OF WHICH THAT LIKELY
CAN'T BE FIXED.
