GM-ENGINE USA (wgvu) - TONAWANDA, N.Y. (AP) - A General Motors official says that the
automaker will make a new clean diesel engine at its plant in
Tonawanda in western New York.
The official spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of
anonymity, saying the engines are for light-duty pick-up trucks.
New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is scheduled to be in the
Buffalo area for the announcement this afternoon.
The Tonawanda plant alongside the Niagara Rivera employs about
18-hundred workers.
G-M earlier this year said it was investing 300 (m) million
dollars into the plant to build new V-8 gasoline engines for luxury
cars.
