Tonawanda in western New York.
The official spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of
anonymity, saying the engines are for light-duty pick-up trucks.
New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is scheduled to be in the
Buffalo area for the announcement this afternoon.
The Tonawanda plant alongside the Niagara Rivera employs about
18-hundred workers.
G-M earlier this year said it was investing 300 (m) million
dollars into the plant to build new V-8 gasoline engines for luxury
cars.
