Democratis Primary
(2007-06-13)
(wgvu) - Michigan Democrats plan to move their
presidential caucuses to an earlier date once Florida Democrats
formally break party rules and hold their primary election earlier.
Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer says if any state
chooses to move ahead of scheduled dates, Michigan Democrats also
will hold their election earlier than February Ninth.
Florida Democrats said say their leadership voted to accept a
January 29th date despite the national party's threat to take away
half their delegates to the national convention.
Florida must formally submit its plans to the Democratic
National Committee by Friday.
That action will trigger Michigan Democrats' plan to move up,
though they will not decide a date until the fall.
