FAKE CAKES USA (wgvu) - GRANDVILLE, Mich. (AP) - For the budget-minded bride and groom,
fake cakes are taking some of the sting out of wedding costs.
Fun Cakes in Grandville, near Grand Rapids in West Michigan, is
crafting and renting multitiered pretend cakes to show wedding
guests.
The traditional first slice of the cake is real, but most of the
rest is foam, gum paste and a frosting-like confection of sugar and
water.
After the bride and groom take the first slice, the fake cake is
wheeled away and guests are served from a less expensive sheet cake
that's hidden from view.
