FOOTBALL CLASSIC
(2007-06-12)
(wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Football Classic is taking a year
off.
Robert Porcher (Por-SHAY) says the game which has pitted two
historically black colleges at Ford Field since 2002 will be
retooled for 2008.
The announcement was made today.
Porcher is a former Detroit Lions star and host of the annual
game.
He founded the game with a group of investors to bring black
college football and the pageantry that surrounds it to Detroit.
Porcher played at South Carolina State, a historically black
college.
Delaware State beat Florida A and M in last year's game.
