(wgvu) - FORD HAS OVERTAKEN TOYOTA AS THE LEADER OF THE
PACK IN INITIAL QUALITY RANKINGS.
THE NATION'S NUMBER-TWO AUTO MAKER WON THE TOP SPOT IN FIVE OF
19 SEGMENTS IN THE J-D POWER AND ASSOCIATES 2007 SURVEY.
ONCE AGAIN, PORSCHE DOMINATED THE OVERALL RANKING OF BRANDS,
AVERAGING 91 PROBLEMS PER 100 VEHICLES -- THE SAME AS LAST YEAR.
THE 2007 INDUSTRY AVERAGE IS 125 PROBLEMS PER 100 VEHICLES.
LAST YEAR IT WAS 124.
FORD EARNED SEGMENT AWARDS FOR THE MUSTANG, LINCOLN MARK L-T,
LINCOLN M-K-Z, MERCURY MILAN AND MAZDA M-X-5 MIATA.
TOYOTA TOOK THE TOP SPOT IN ELEVEN SEGMENTS LAST YEAR BUT GOT
ONLY FOUR THIS YEAR.
