JAPAN-MAZDA-RECALL

(wgvu) - MAZDA IS RECALLING NEARLY 288,000 CARS IN
JAPAN DUE TO DEFECTS THAT COULD AFFECT THE CLUTCH SYSTEMS AND COIL
SPRINGS IN SUSPENSIONS.
A MAZDA SPOKESWOMAN SAYS NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE HAVE BEEN
REPORTED.
SHE SAYS IT'S MAZDA'S LARGEST RECALL IN JAPAN SINCE THE
AUTOMAKER BEGAN TAKING RECALL DATA IN 1994. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS
FOR 162,000 VEHICLES IN MARCH 2004.
THE AUTOMAKER WILL MAKE THE REPAIRS FOR FREE.
