IRAQ-DELAYED MEDAL
(2007-05-22)
(wgvu) - A MICHIGAN SOLDIER FINALLY GOT A MEDAL FOR
WOUNDS HE RECEIVED IN IRAQ TWO YEARS AGO.
ARMY STAFF SERGEANT SEAN KNUDSEN OF HOWELL WAS WOUNDED BY ENEMY
FIRE IN 2005 BUT HAD BEEN REFUSED A PURPLE HEART ACKNOWLEDGING HIS
WOUNDED STATUS.
MICHIGAN CONGRESSMAN MIKE ROGERS PRESENTED KNUDSEN WITH THE
MEDAL AT THE STATE CAPITOL YESTERDAY.
KNUDSEN ALSO GOT THE ARMY COMBAT ACTION BADGE FROM MAJOR GENERAL
THOMAS CUTLER OF THE MICHIGAN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD.
THE SERGEANT SAYS RECEIVING THE PURPLE HEART TODAY WAS A
MILESTONE IN HIS MISSION FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY TO BE
AWARDED WHAT THEY DESERVE.
