(wgvu) - WIXOM, Mich. (AP) - Workers at Ford's Wixom plant say the
50-year legacy of building high-quality cars will continue even
after production stops this month.
The Oakland County factory employs eleven-hundred workers. The
plant makes Lincoln Town Cars. It has also produced the
Thunderbird, Ford G-T, the Lincoln Continental and the Mark series.
Plant manager Phil Calhoun says there is some disappointment but
workers are proud of the six-point-six (m) million cars assembled
at the plant and numerous industry awards.
The Wixom shutdown is part of Ford's restructuring plan to close
16 facilities by 2012.
