GONZALEZ ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY USA (wgvu) - DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says
he's accepting responsibility for his role in firing eight federal
prosecutors.
Some congressional lawmakers have called for Gonzales'
resignation over the dismissals.
Gonzales says mistakes were made but he refuses to step down.
Several congressional lawmakers want to know if the Justice
Department played politics and let partisanship affect
investigations.
Gonzales spoke with reporters after his speech before the
Detroit Economic Club in Dearborn.
He says he should've done a better job of supervising, but
denies that he or his department makes choices based on
partisanship.
