Maintaining Land and Water
(2007-04-19)
(wgvu) - Agriculture and tourism are Michigan's number 2 and 3 industries. But the state devotes less than 1 percent of its budget to maintaining land and water. Michigan's non-profit land conservancy organizations have formed a new lobbying arm called Heart of the Lakes, based in Lansing. Michigan Now's Chris McCarus spoke with the group's President, Tom Bailey, in Harbor Springs. McCarus asked Bailey if the DNR, DEQ and Agriculture Department DON'T have to sacrifice and tighten their belts like everyone else?
