DISABLED SUE U OF M
(2007-04-17)
(wgvu) - ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - A disabled veterans group sued the
University of Michigan today, saying that the school is denying
wheelchair users equal access to Michigan Stadium.
The Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America filed the suit in Ann
Arbor federal court.
It says that university officials intentionally violated the
Americans with Disabilities Act, which sets out the number and
location of wheelchair seating in stadiums.
The schools plans a 226 (M) million-dollar renovation for the
107-thousand-seat stadium.
Michigan Stadium now has 90 wheelchair-accessible seats and
would have 282 after the renovation.
The university says it's complying with the law.
