WORKPLACE SHOOTING
(2007-04-09)
(wgvu) - A GUNMAN KILLED SOMEONE AND WOUNDED TWO MEN
AT A SUBURBAN DETROIT OFFICE BUILDING.
A SPOKESWOMAN FOR BEAUMONT HOSPITAL IN ROYAL OAK SAYS ONE VICTIM
DIED ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL AND THE TWO INJURED MEN WERE BEING
TREATED.
WITNESSES SAY THE SHOOTER WAS A FORMER EMPLOYEE OF AN ACCOUNTING
FIRM INSIDE THE BUILDING.
TROY POLICE LIEUTENANT GERRY SCHERLINCK SAYS THEY ARE LOOKING
FOR 38-YEAR-OLD ANTHONY LACALAMITA. SCHERLINCK SAYS HE MIGHT HAVE
BEEN FIRED AS RECENTLY AS A WEEK AGO.
OFFICERS HAVE BEEN SEARCHING BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE
BUILDING. THEY WEREN'T SURE IF HE WAS STILL INSIDE THE BUILDING
AROUND NOON.
POLICE AT FIRST TOLD WORKERS TO STAY IN THEIR OFFICES BUT A
SHORT TIME LATER BEGAN TO EVACUATE THE BUILDING.
