CHILD DIES
(2007-04-05)
(wgvu) - A judge has ruled that a suburban Detroit woman
is mentally competent to stand trial in her two-year-old foster
daughter's death.
Wayne County Circuit Judge Ulysses Boykin issued his ruling
yesterday.
Carol Poole faces life in prison on charges of felony murder,
first-degree child abuse and involuntary manslaughter.
The 41-year-old Canton Township woman is accused of killing
Allison Newman. The toddler fell 12 feet from a second-floor
balcony in the couple's suburban Detroit home last September and
died two days later.
