NO HONKING FERNDALE (wgvu) - The American Civil Liberties Union has
filed a federal lawsuit against Ferndale. The A-C-L-U is
challenging the Detroit suburb's "no honking" policy for
demonstrators.
The plaintiffs in the case are antiwar protesters and motorists
who were ticketed last year. Ferndale prohibits demonstrators from
carrying signs that urge passing motorists to honk their horns in
support. The lawsuit was filed yesterday.
The city's mayor says he hasn't seen the lawsuit, but he's
surprised it was filed.
