U.S. AUTO SALES DOWN
(2007-04-04)
(wgvu) - Toyota's U-S sales jumped 11-point-seven percent
last month, boosted by record hybrid sales and strong overall car
sales.
Meanwhile, Ford's sales dropped nine percent and G-M's and
DaimlerChrysler's sales both fell four-point-one percent.
The numbers come as General Motors, Ford and Chrysler see Asian
rivals led by Toyota capturing growing shares of the U-S market.
Ford still held off Toyota for the number two U-S sales spot for
the month.
General Motors, Ford and Chrysler have been working to turn
around their North American operations.
G-M remains the world's largest automaker, but analysts predict
Toyota will continue to keep the heat on and likely will knock Ford
off its traditional number two spot in U-S sales for 2007.
