GRANHOLM-BUDGET
(2007-03-14)
(wgvu) - - GOVERNOR GRANHOLM PLANS TO PLUNGE INTO
RESOLVING THE STATE'S BUDGET CRISIS WHEN SHE RETURNS FROM A TRADE
TRIP TO GERMANY AND AUSTRIA.
SHE SAYS SHE'S GOING TO DEMAND THAT LAWMAKERS "SIT IN A ROOM
UNTIL WE REACH AN AGREEMENT."
THE STATE FACES A $900 MILLION DOLLAR SHORTFALL IN THE
CURRENT BUDGET AND A $1 BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT IN THE NEXT
BUDGET. IT ALSO NEEDS TO REPLACE THE SINGLE BUSINESS TAX.
