SWITZERLAND-DAIMLERCHRYSLER
(2007-03-06)
(wgvu) - DAIMLERCHRYSLER CHAIRMAN DIETER ZETSCHE SAYS HE'S
CONFIDENT THAT STRUGGLING CHRYSLER WILL REBOUND BUT REITERATED THAT
ALL OPTIONS REMAIN OPEN.
SPEAKING AT THE GENEVA MOTOR SHOW IN SWITZERLAND, ZETSCHE
OFFERED NO TIMETABLE FOR A TURNAROUND OF CHRYSLER. BUT HE
ACKNOWLEDGED THAT DAIMLERCHRYSLER UNDERESTIMATED THE TIME IT TAKES
TO CHANGE PERCEPTIONS OF BRANDS IN THE U-S MARKETPLACE.
ZETSCHE WOULDN'T COMMENT ON DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S EXPLORATION OF
ALTERNATIVES FOR CHRYSLER. BUT HE DID SAY THE GERMAN-AMERICAN
AUTOMAKER AND GENERAL MOTORS HAVE BEGUN TALKS ON JOINT-DEVELOPMENT
PLANS FOR FUTURE PRODUCTS.
DAIMLERCHRYSLER HAS BEGUN PREPARING PRESENTATIONS FOR POTENTIAL
SUITORS.
