DHS GRANT WILL HELP BUY RADIOS
(2007-02-27)
(wgvu) - A (m) million dollar grant from Homeland
Security will help fire departments across the Upper Peninsula
communicate with other agencies on a fire scene.
The Assistance to Firefighter's Grant will help buy up to 700
new radios, and provide training on how to use them.
Grant writers are also working on cd-rom for training purposes.
Departments wanting one of the new radios will have to match the
federal funding with 20 percent, or 300 dollars per radio.
