COUPLE CHARGED IN EMBEZZLEMENT WESTLAND (wgvu) - A divorced couple has been sentenced to
three years' probation for embezzling proceeds of bingo games for
senior citizens.
Neal Greenfield of Westland and Shari Greenfield of Livonia are
former officers of the Wayne Ford Civic League. They were convicted
of stealing 45-thousand dollars from the group over a five year
period. Wayne County prosecutors brought charges in August.
The Greenfields must pay restitution, which will be set at a
hearing next month.
They had faced up to ten years in prison and a huge fine but
prosecutors say a lack of prior convictions mitigated the sentence.
